The Women’s World Cup Champion’s Payout Is Laughable

Yes, we normally talk about the NFL variety of “football” but today I feel compelled to talk about the “fooootball” otherwise known as soccer. It has the same name so I figured I could get away with it today. It goes without saying that the US Women’s Soccer team gets a huge congrats from us ladies here at Her Fantasy Football for their World Cup victory! Even more exciting is that the American viewership for the for the Women’s World cup was more than that of the NBA Finals or the  Stanley Cup Finals. With that said, the tournament this year has certainly had it’s fair share of controversy from domestic violence allegations against Hope Solo, the U.S. goalkeeper; frustrations on how U.S. Soccer handled the allegations; the ridiculousness of the women having to compete on artificial turf, raising the temperature by almost 20-30 degrees; and the fact that there have been indictments from U.S. federal investigators against FIFA. Now to top it all off, we have the embarrassing fact that the women’s payout for being World Cup Champs is laughable compared to the men’s payout. The US women’s team will be paid $2 million for their victory compared to last year’s $35 million payout to the Germany male’s team and the $1.5 million each male soccer team got paid for merely participating in the Men’s World Cup. Below are links to the stories to get a full grasp on the disparity in pay. Link to story Link to story Link to...

Every year the three of us draft “draw” teams that we will cover for the year as well as what positions we will cover. It is that time of the year, so we will not only pick teams for the 2015 season but we will also send off our teams from 2014 into the...

New York Giants 2014 Fantasy Highs and Lows

New York Giants 6-10 Welcome to the NFC East Week and the New York Giants 2014 Fantasy Highs and Lows. Each week we will go division by division breaking down each team. Highs:  Odell Beckham Jr. ODB!!! Is there anyone else on this team to talk about? He was Offensive Rookie of the Year. He finished his Rookie year fifth best Wide Receiver and that is with missing the first four games. He is a freak in the best way. No one can forget his catch against Dallas where he caught the ball horizontal with three fingers. Seven out of his twelve games he had 15 or more points. They say he only averaged 12.3 fantasy points but if you take his total and divide it by 12 it was actually 16.4, more then the other four in front of him. I can’t say enough about this kid, he is amazing. Eli Manning There are no questions we were all worried about Eli Manning before the 2014 season started. Not only was he recovering from an ankle injury but for the first time in his 10 years in the NFL, he was learning a new offense that was nothing like what he was familiar with. Even with those obstacles, Manning had 4,410 yards passing, 30 touchdowns, and a QB Rating of 92.1. Those are his best stats since 2011. With a year under Ben McAdoo’s offense, Manning should only be better in2015. Lows: Victor Cruz My low for the Giants was Victor Cruz’s injury. When he went out in Week 6 with a torn right patellar tendon there were...

Dallas Cowboys 2014 Fantasy Highs and Lows

Dallas Cowboys 12-4   Welcome to the NFC East Week and the Dallas Cowboys 2014 Fantasy Highs and Lows. Each week we will go division by division breaking down each team.   Highs:   Dez Bryant It amazes me that Dez continues to perform and stay healthy every year. In his 2014 season he had 88 receptions, 1320 yards, and 16 touchdowns. That is three more touchdowns then any other receiver last year. Dez is now a franchise player after being tagged this offseason. No long-term deal yet for Dez but he will get paid with stats like his. DeMarco Murray I think we all can agree that DeMarco Murray was the standout for the Cowboys. He averaged 17 fantasy points a game. He had five games with 20 or more points and had eight games in a row with over 100 yards rushing. He had another four games over 100 yards rushing as well, for a grand total of 1845 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns and another 416 yards receiving. He was the clear number one running back of 2014 behind a very talented offensive line. Murray has found a new home for the 2015 season with the Philadelphia Eagles. Both Murray and Chip Kelly think this will be a very good match. After being run to the ground and switching teams only time will tell if Murray can be as successful this year as he was last year.   Lows:   Terrance Williams My first low was Terrance Williams. I love Dez but Dez could have been even better if the Cowboys opened up that offense using...

New England Patriots 2014 Fantasy Highs And Lows

New England Patriots 12-4   Congratulations to the New England Patriots on their 2015 Superbowl win. It was a great game and an even better ending but this article is not about the Superbowl. Here are my highs and lows for the 2014 New England Patriots season.   Highs: Rob Gronkowski played a whole season!!!! He missed game 17 but only because the Patriots had locked up the number one seat. He was a machine all season and the only Tight End you could trust this season. He had 30 more fantasy points then Antonio Gates that finished second in fantasy points and averaged 11.1 points per game. He was targeted a position high of 130 times for 82 receptions, 1124 yards and 12 touchdowns. Winning!!!   Stephen Gostkowski was the best Kicker in 2014. He made 34 out of his 36 attempts on field goals for a career high success rate at 94.6 percent. He also made all of his 51 extra points. He had more fantasy points then Calvin Johnson with 170 points. Kickers do matter!   Lows: There was no real low for the Patriots, unless you drafted one of the Running Backs. There was no consistency in the position for fantasy owners. The Patriots started with Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen as their one-two punch in the backfield. Vereen took the fantasy points in Week 1 but the very next week Ridley was the main back. The next two games you didn’t want to start either of them and then in Week 5 they both had a nice game. In Week 6 things get interesting....
