Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Due to the match-up against a very tough Chiefs defense, there are no Must Starts.

Gut Calls

Andrew Luck

#14 Ranked QB

Luck is right on the cusp of a Must Start but his match-up against the Chiefs make us a little leery. The Chiefs give up the 10th fewest points to QBs and Luck was only able to get you 15 points against the Texans. He has been struggling to get over 200 passing yards and has thrown 3 INTs in the past 4 games. With that said, he is the 4th highest scoring QB for the season so it would be hard to not play him. He is a true Gut Call.

Other Notable:

Trent Richardson. #39 Yes, that was painful to admit.

Bench Warmers

T.Y Hilton and Coby Fleener

# 27 and #21 Ranked WR

Not great match-ups for either. The Chiefs give up the fewest points to TEs which means you won’t see much improvement from Fleener’s goose egg last week and they are fairly stout against WRs as well. T.Y. Hilton hasn’t been producing in the last few weeks so might not be the best week to hope for a bounce back.

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Andrew Luck

#7 Ranked QB

Luck is always capable of putting up huge numbers and he did just that last week by scoring 32.24 fantasy points, the 2nd most points of all QBs. The Texans give up the 11th fewest points to QBs this season but they have been giving up a heck of a lot more points in the past few weeks than normal so it looks good for Luck.

Gut Calls

Coby Fleener

#13 Ranked TE

Fleener led the team with the most targets last week. His score didn’t reflect that, but that is always encouraging. He plays against a sub par DEF this week. If you are going to roll the dice, Fleener would be a good option, especially since Gronk is out for the season.

Da’Rick Rodgers and LaVon Brazill

#49 and #66 Ranked WR

Rodgers only scored fantasy points one time this year and it was last week. Granted he scored 22 fantasy points, but this is very, very risky for a playoff pick. Same goes for LaVon Brazill. Last week was his only big week. Risky, very risky.

Bench Warmers

Donald Brown and Trent Richardson

#31 and #54 Ranked RB

Brown was named the starter and then Richardson outplays him. Both of these guys didn’t get many targets last week and neither did much with the looks they got. It certainly wasn’t enough production to make either worthy of a start.

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Andrew Luck

#9 Ranked QB

Andrew Luck seems to like being behind and not really starting to play till the second half. This is very stressful to watch so just don’t watch the game because he will still get you points. He has only had 1 single digit game all season and has been, otherwise, pretty darn reliable for you. The Cardinals are a very good DEF, but they have been mainly focusing on stopping the run, so expect Luck to air it out and to win this game by passing.  That means nothing but good things for you fantasy-wise, pending he doesn’t revert to Luck of 2012 and air out some INTs. Luck is a must start.

Donald Brown

#24 Ranked RB

The Cardinals give up the fewest points to RBs in the league this season. They are nasty. Look at Brown as a RB2 option. He can catch the ball so he might get points that way and he might get utilized on the goal line. Don’t expect an enormous game from him but he should still get you some decent points. Especially now that the Colts are realizing that he is the better option over Richardson.

T.Y. Hilton

#14 Ranked WR

No one is quite sure what happened to all the Colts WRs last week but Luck is going to have to win this game in the air, so that means good things for T.Y. Expect a solid performance from him this week and forget about his absence from your scoreboard last week.

Coby Fleener

#10 Ranked TE

This guy is a no brainer this week. Not only did he have 107 yards last week and 10 points, but like we said with Hilton: Luck is going to have to pass the ball to win this game and Luck is very comfortable with Fleener. The fact that the Cardinals give up the most points to TEs is just the icing on the cake. Play Fleener and see the points flood in.

Gut Calls

No gut calls this week.

Bench Warmers

Trent Richardson

#45 Ranked RB

Chuck Pagano, for whatever reason, still likes Richardson and continues to try to explain away why he hasn’t been producing. Don’t listen to it. Even though Pagano is verbally standing by his man, he has been smart enough to switch the work load to Brown. The Cardinals are the top DEF against RBs so Richardson should have a miserable showing this week.

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Andrew Luck

#7 Ranked QB

Andrew Luck certainly didn’t have the “best week ever” last week, but then again, a lot of QBs didn’t either. He is the 7th highest scoring QB thus far this season so he is still a must start, even if he is up against the Titans who give up the 4th fewest points to QBs.

T.Y. Hilton

#11 Ranked WR

If T.Y. could have found the end zone he would have been a top 5 WR last week. He still scored you 13 fantasy points with 130 yards on 7 receptions, so at least he sees the kind of workload fantasy owners need week in and week out. The Titans give up the 2nd fewest points to opposing WRs, so don’t expect an enormous week but he should still be a decent start.

Gut Calls

Coby Fleener

#12 Ranked TE

Fleener didn’t have a horrible week, but you aren’t looking for “not horrible”. He was targeted 10 times and caught only 4, so he could have had a much larger game. Nonetheless, he did score you 5 fantasy points, making him the 15th highest scoring TE last week. The good news is that while the Titans DEF is pretty good in all facets, they don’t do a great job defending TEs so Fleener may have some upside this week.

Donald Brown

#33 Ranked RB

Brown lingers somewhere between Gut Checks and Bench Warmer. He did score you 12 fantasy points, but he actually had -1 rushing yards and was only saved by a catch for a touchdown and 64 receiving yards. He only saw 2 carries and had 5 receptions. That is not a whole lot of targets. Nonetheless, he still has more upside than Richardson.

Bench Warmers

Trent Richardson

#38 Ranked RB

Well, if you haven’t given up on Trent Richardson yet in your fantasy line-up…then we don’t know what to say to help. He rushed for a total of 2 yards and caught 3 passes for 33 yards. That just isn’t going to cut it. With Donald Brown being equally bad, they will continue to share the workload. It doesn’t get much uglier than sharing a total of 1 rushing yard combined.

Indianapolis Colts vs St. Louis Rams

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Andrew Luck

#7 Ranked QB

If you watched this game, then you know how stressful it was. Luck had virtually no points until the second half and then ended with 3 TDs and 271 yards. His 24 points was the 6th highest QB score for the week and you should expect him to do around the same against the Rams this week.

T.Y. Hilton

#11 Ranked WR

Hilton was the recipient of all 3 of Luck’s TDs with 121 yards on 7 receptions. As you can see, Hilton is the man in Indy now that Reggie Wayne is out and don’t expect that to change (especially since Heyward-Bey can’t seem to keep his hands on the ball). The Rams have a so-so secondary so Hilton and your fantasy team should be just fine.

Gut Calls

Coby Fleener

#10 Ranked TE

As predicted, Fleener had a pretty good game. He comes in as a gut call because he had the 11th most points last week and Gronk is on bye. Fleener will go up against a DEF that has given up the 2nd fewest points to a TE, so he might have his work cut out for him. You need to hope that Luck targets him in the end zone.

Bench Warmers

Trent Richardson and Donald Brown

#35 Ranked RB and #40 Ranked RB

While Trent is still the “starter,” Brown gets almost as many touches. The problem is that neither of them do much with it. Last week, both had 5 fantasy points or fewer which isn’t great. Granted they are up against a terrible DEF in terms of defending the rush, but one would have to believe that you have a better option.

Maybe, he is going up against the Chargers who have allowed the 3rd most fantasy points to receivers. Ugh!!!

The blockbuster trade last week of Trent Richardson from the Cleveland Browns to the Indianapolis Colts was all anyone could talk about. To trade away a first round pick, and third pick overall in the draft, one season after acquiring him is unheard of.

The Colts need to find a running game, that is obvious…so Trent makes sense. The Browns are trying to rebuild a stagnant organization and needed a chip to trade to get more opportunities to do that next year, so Trent was the only option. Clearly they have given up hope for this year……

So what does Richardson’s trade really mean?

Does this actually mean that Weeden should kiss his job goodbye? Do the Browns really see so much greatness in the 2014 draft class that they were willing to trade away one of their best players? Do the Colts really see so much potential in Richardson that they were willing to give up a coveted pick???

Only time will tell if this was a win win for both organizations or a lose lose. Right now in fantasy we are confused confused.

Rare in-season trade of Trent Richardson puts Cleveland, Indianapolis fan bases on notice – The Boston GlobeOn the surface, the motivation for Wednesday’s seismic trade between Indianapolis and Cleveland is obvious. The Colts needed a running back after losing Vick Ballard to injury. The Browns are looking to rebuild and find a franchise quarterback next offseason, and Trent Richardson was one of the few valuable pieces on the roster.
