Zac Stacy

#19 Ranked RB

Last week Stacy tore it up. We love him. He rushed for 133 yards and one TD and then tacked on another 10 yards receiving for good measure. Tampa Bay gives up the 7th fewest fantasy points to opposing RBs so that stat line will probably go down a little bit. Stacy is a stud, so he’ll still be a good play.

Gut Calls

Sadly, there are no Gut Calls.

Bench Warmers

Everyone else. However, it really is insane how this team can win games with sub-par fantasy performances from everyone but Stacy.

We love Stacy in good or even mediocre match-ups, so he’s a Must Start this week. We got a little heat for our low ranking last week, but we were pretty spot-on even when he tacked on a TD later in the game. Stacy is a great talent and feel free to start him against New Orleans. St Louis leans on the run and you can run on the Saints much easier than you can throw on them.

Gut Calls

You start Zac Stacy and you bench everyone else. Sound familiar?

Bench Warmers

Tavon Austin

You might be tempted to start this flashy player, especially if you’re in the consolation bracket and you need to catch a rainbow in a bottle, but he hurt his ankle and didn’t practice on Wednesday. Look elsewhere for the magic.

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

St Louis Defense

#10 Ranked DEF

Last week Arizona’s QB went back to his turnover ways with two INTs and one FUM. If the Rams continue playing the way they’ve been playing, look for some extra fantasy points.

Jared Cook

#8 Ranked TE

This analysis is completely match-up driven, and frankly, we’re a little uncomfortable. Arizona gives up the absolute most fantasy points to opposing TEs. If the Rams want to win, they must incorporate Cook into the game plan. And for that reason we ranked him high (it certainly wasn’t due to his season stat line).

Gut Calls

Zac Stacy

#24 Ranked RB

We love Zac Stacy, but this might be a tough week for his fantasy owners. Arizona gives up the absolute least amount of fantasy points to opposing RBs. Last week Stacy went up against another tough defense, San Francisco, and he came away with 19 carries for only 72 yards. Be prepared for similar results this week.

Bench Warmers

Tavon Austin

#60 Ranked WR

Austin had a couple great games and then came back to earth against the 49ers last week. He’s big play dependent and too risky for a starting spot on your playoff roster. Don’t get cute.

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Zac Stacy

#4 Ranked RB

Stacy is officially listed as Questionable due to a concussion. Coach Fisher said he’s doing well, but we’re all a little nervous. You have to run against the 49ers because they are so tough against the pass, so the Rams really need Stacy. And you really need Stacy. Get well soon.

Gut Calls

Benny Cunningham

#47 Ranked RB

After Zac Stacy left the game with a concussion, Benny Cunningham went in and made everything all better. He performed well off the bench against Chicago by rushing for 109 yards and one TD. If Stacy is out, he moves up to a borderline “Must Start.”

Tavon Austin

#50 Ranked WR

Two good weeks in a row. Nice. But in both of his fantastic performances, Austin only caught 2 passes a piece. He’s only obtained a total of seven offensive touches in those two games combined. It’s hard to rely on big plays week in and week out when you set up your starting fantasy lineup, but keep an eye on this guy. He’s going places!

Bench Warmers

Kellen Clemens

#31 Ranked QB

Houdini. No one knows how the Rams blow out team after team and yet Clemens’ numbers have never gone beyond mediocre. He’s doing a great job with what the team asks him to do, but he will not do a good job in your starting lineup.

Jared Cook

#21 Ranked TE

Up and down and up and down. Guess what? This week is a scheduled down week for Cook production and San Francisco gives up the 2nd fewest fantasy points to opposing TEs. He’s so hard to trust week in and week out.

Gut Calls

Tavon Austin

#51 Ranked WR

There is a possibility that after the Week 10 break out game, and a bye week, the Rams have figured out a way to consistently include Tavon Austin in their offensive plan.  However, it’s just as likely that Austin will return to his middling fantasy existence.  If you’re in a desperate “must win” situation to get into the fantasy playoffs, and you have a good feeling about him, go for it.  We can’t responsibly suggest it, though, due to the fact that he’s only scored over 5 fantasy points one other time this season.

Bench Warmers

Jared Cook

#23 Ranked TE

17 yards at Indianapolis before the bye week pretty much says it all.  Chicago gives up the 10 most fantasy points to opposing TEs, so he’ll probably be better, but how much better?  Ugh.

We love you, Zac Stacy!!!  Last week Stacy rushed for 127 yards, 2 TDs and caught 6 passes for 51 yards.  That means, we are happy to report that the Rams FINALLY scored their first rushing TD.  In fact, they liked it so much, they did it twice.  Stacy is the real deal.  Hopefully you picked him up weeks ago when we first brought him up.  If not, he’s gone.  And just hope you don’t have to go up against him anytime soon.  He’s HOT!

Gut Calls

Jared Cook

#21 Ranked TE

Things change.  Mostly, when a team gets a new QB, you need to acknowledge his favorite targets.  And it seems that backup QB, Kellen Clemens, seems to like Cook the best.  Cook caught 3 passes for 36 yards and 1 TD.  That was the good news.  The bad news is that Clemens isn’t very good.  Other than Stacy, it’s hard to trust the Rams offense for fantasy production.

Bench Warmers

Tavon Austin

#71 Ranked WR

Tavon Austin is 44% owned on Yahoo.com.  Why?  What are you seeing?  Do you need glasses?  That’s okay.  Glasses are cool.  What’s not cool?  Still owning a guy averaging 5.31 fantasy points per game.  The last time he scored over 5 fantasy points?  September 22.  Last week, he only rushed for 6 yards.  Yep, he didn’t even catch one ball!  Stop it.  You can do better.

When your QB only scores 3.42 fantasy points for an entire game, it’s borderline impossible for anyone to score points. Only the lead RB gets out of that with fantasy value (see Stacy). Until Kellen Clemens improves by leaps and bounds, this team will lack fantasy relevance.

Sad, sad, sad. Sam Bradford is out for the season with a torn ACL. No one would call Bradford an elite QB, but Kellen Clemens is a rather steep downgrade. This team is desperate. In fact, they are so desperate they reportedly called Drama-Momma Favre to see if he could make his 50th comeback. Yikes! If you aren’t starting Stacy, you probably shouldn’t start a Ram.

This week, we made some gut calls on Zac Stacy and the sad state of Bradford-less affairs.

Here is an example of what you can find over at Cover32.com, by Her Fantasy Football:

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Zac Stacy
#16 Ranked RB
If you picked up Stacy, you should feel great about the remainder of the season. He seems to make things happen more than Richardson and even though the team has YET to score a rushing TD, Stacy did manage to get into the endzone on a passing play. Seattle gives up the fourth fewest fantasy points to RBs, so temper your expectations, but we do think Stacy will prove productive in an otherwise disappointing year for starting RBs.

Sam Bradford
#23 Ranked QB
For two weeks in a row, Bradford threw 3 TDs. That’s pretty swell. The St Louis offense continue to confuse everyone, and not in a good way, but we need to acknowledge Bradford’s good fantasy play. If you are in a deep league and in a bye week bind, Bradford could be a decent play. He’s an enigma. We don’t get it, but those are the numbers.

Gut Calls

Zac Stacy

#31 Ranked RB

Most fantasy sites are telling you to pick up this guy. Sure. You can do that. Coach Jeff Fisher confirmed that Stacy would remain the starter in Week 6. For Stacy to become a fantasy starter he must play a larger role in this offense. Last week, as the “starter” he rushed for 78 yards. No TD. Stacy did leave the game due to a rib injury, but supposedly it’s not serious. If you’ve been decimated by injuries, Stacy is worth a flyer. Under normal circumstances, you stash him on your bench and cross your fingers.
