This week was filled to the brim with exciting free agency acquisitions. But who’s still out there and how will that effect your fantasy team?
- Jared Allen – Defensive End – Normally you wait to talk about defense in fantasy football, but this guy is a real talent. There are rumors that if Allen doesn’t get what he considers a fair deal he will walk away from football entirely. That would be a shame. Last year Allen was responsible for 11.5 sacks, tied for the 7th highest in the league. If he does find a home that team will get more sacks, hence more fantasy points. Best of luck!
- Hakeem Nicks – Wide Receiver – It’s borderline impossible to evaluate any receiver associated with Eli Manning last year, but it was clear that Nicks was one foot out the door before the season even started. Once considered a fantastic talent, his recent lack of enthusiasm might have hurt his stock. He’s Quarterback dependent so our ranking of him next year will rely heavily on the team willing to pick him up.
- Jermichael Finley – Tight End – He wants to play for Seattle. Seattle wants him on their team. But he has to go through a medical clearance and considering his concussion scares in the past, we have our fingers crossed. Either way, stay safe, Mr. Finely.
- Michael Vick – Quarterback – Vick brings five games of fantasy football glory no matter where he goes. He’s a dynamic player with a torrid injury history. Buffalo, Jacksonville, Oakland and the New York Jets are supposedly all interested so we’ll wait and see.
- Ben Tate – Running Back – Cleveland hosted him and seems to be interested. I don’t understand how he’s still out there. Most of the teams in the league need a stronger running game and could use his services. If he does end up in Cleveland he will be a top 20 running back. No question.
- Maurice Jones-Drew – Running Back – He finally gets out of Jacksonville and.. crickets. What? Well, he is getting older and he was a primary back in Florida so people are worried about the amount of gas he still has in the tank. We wish him well and hope he gets to play on a team with some chops.
- Knowshon Moreno – Running Back – Another running back without any suitors. The good news: maybe that means he can return to Denver and help with Peyton Manning pass protection. Maybe. And just a reminder, Moreno was the 5th highest scoring running back overall last season. He rushed for 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also caught 60 passes for 548 yards and three touchdowns. That’s awesome. Get this man a job!
- Julian Edelman, James Jones, Emmanuel Sanders – Wide Receivers – The fact that any of these guys were released from their respective teams surprised quite a few people. All three of them are capable of significant fantasy production and we can’t wait for them to find a new home.
Time will tell, but keep your eye on where each of these men land. The team will be better for having them there.
Which team do you think each of these players should join?
