Rookie RB Duke Johnson injures hamstring and RB Terrance West injures calf

Johnson was evaluated after practice on Saturday, August 1 and the hamstring injury is not considered serious. Terrance West also suffered an injury, but to his calf. His injury is also considered minor. That left Isaiah Crowell and Shaun Draughn to absorb the camp reps on their own. The Browns are considered a rather good rum-blocking offensive line when they can stay healthy. Unfortunately, it looks like Cleveland will be a dreaded “Running Back By Committee (RBBC)” so depending on one of them for your fantasy team could be foolish. Link to...

Rookie RB Tevin Coleman got first-team reps with the Atlanta Falcons

Keep your eye on this camp battle. The team will go back and forth between Coleman and 2014 draft pick Davonta Freeman. I’m also not convinced that the guy that starts the season the starter will end up a starter in November. The Falcons resist committing to a stud RB since the departure of Michael Turner. Back yourself up if you decide to take a flyer on one of these guys. Link to...

Rookie WR Devin Smith suffered broken ribs in practice

Smith is a popular sleeper in the fantasy football circles, but this changes things a bit. Supposedly the injury is minor, but the second-round draft pick is still expected to miss four to six weeks. Stay tuned to see if he has a chance of making it to the season opener. Either way, it’s hard to get excited about a rookie receiver without preseason reps. Link to...

RB LeGarrette Blount returned to practice and impressed

This is the type of story you need to tune out during the preseason. Reportedly Blount failed a conditioning test and that’s why he had to sit out the first two days of training camp. And although that may be true, it doesn’t take away from what Blount will do on the field come regular season. He is suspended the first game, but after that look for the Patriots to lean on him much like they did in 2014 towards the end of the season. But always remember, Bill Bellichick hates you and your fantasy football team. There will be games when Blount gets zero touches. And for that, he’s an upside RB3 in most formats. Link to...

DT Muhammad Wilkerson leaves practice with hamstring injury

After practice on Sunday, coach Todd Bowles said Wilkerson tweaked his hamstring. Hamstring injuries linger and are one of the most frustrating “tweaks” an athlete can experience. Hopefully this was minor, especially since DT Sheldon Richardson was suspended for four games due to violating the league’s substance abuse policy and then was arrested for drag racing with a minor in the vehicle and resisting arrest. Also, Wilkerson is looking for a new contract so this is bad timing all the way around. Link to...
