Will New Offensive Coordinator Help New York Giants?

Will new offensive coordinator help New York Giants? Ben McAdoo hopes that he is the man to do the job. In an offseason that saw a shuffling of some of the NFL’s top talent, there has also been a major change of offensive coordinators. A new coordinator can bring renewed hope to those offenses that struggled last year and if you heard Brandon Lee on our Her Fantasy Football Podcast last season you know the Giants were definitely one of the offenses that needed a change. Beware, a new coordinator does not always mean immediate success, in fact a new coordinator means learning a new system instead of refining an old one.   McAdoo comes from the Green Bay Packers where he was most recently the QBs coach. Not a bad addition if you consider that Eli Manning is coming off the worse season of his NFL career. His expertise will no doubt help the struggling QB, but the biggest factor for the Giants success this year will be their offensive line.   While many people will say that Eli is a horrible QB after last year’s performance, there was an underlying reason for his play: the offensive line. The line was terrible last year, one of the worst in the league. The Giants were very busy this offseason by accruing OT Charles Brown, G’s Geoff Schwartz and John Jerry as free agents. They opted to take WR Odell Beckham Jr. with their first round pick and waited till the second round to add C Weston Richburg from Colorado State. History has taught us that a team can have the best skill...

Top Five Rookie Tight Ends to Watch in 2014

Rookie tight ends are not the most reliable of fantasy football players, but the position is so hot and cold you have to take a look at everyone. And before we get too cute, let’s look at Jimmy Graham’s rookie season: 31 receptions, 356 receiving yards, 5 touchdowns - total of 65.6 fantasy points in standard scoring. Take note: with a total of 65.6 points Jimmy would have been the 20th highest scoring fantasy tight end in 2013. Also, he only started 5 games his rookie season - so image how amazing he was as a plug and play. More than with any other position we really mean “watch.” Do not draft these rookie tight ends, but keep an eye out for them and consider each of them for a bye week fill-in. Also, if you play dynasty, you may want to bank on one of these guys later in the draft. It’s a smart move. And here is why: Jace Amaro (New York Jets): He wasn’t the first tight end taken off the board, but in my opinion, he has the greatest potential for early production. The New York Jets picked up a stud wide receiver (Eric Decker) and a stud running back (Chris Johnson) in the off season so you knew they were looking for a stud tight end to round out the pack. Amaro is 6’5″, 260 pounds and Texas Tech mostly used him as an inside receiver which is exactly what he’ll do in MetLife Stadium. He started 10 of 13 games in 2013 and amassed 106 catches for 1.352 yards and seven touchdowns. He...

TOP FIVE ROOKIE WIDE RECEIVERS TO WATCH IN 2014

No longer is the college game just about a power running game. The 2014 NFL Draft was one filled with talented wide receivers ready to make their mark on the NFL. These guys are potential Fantasy Husbands. Mike Evans (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) - In the NFL, success is as much about situation as it is about talent. Evan couldn’t be in a better position to succeed. First, Evans is huge at 6-5 and 231 pounds and has a history of playing against and shredding tough, SEC defenses. Before the draft he drew comparisons to Tampa Bay’s WR Vincent Jackson because of his size, speed and great hands. Now, Evans will be opposite Jackson in a division that lacks real talent at the cornerback position. It helps that Evans has a solid QB to throw him the ball in Josh McCown whom we all know I LOVE. Evans will be a red zone nightmare for opposing defenses.   Sammy Watkins (Buffalo Bills) – Sammy Watkins is a machine and is amazing for dynasty leagues. Pick him up! The reality is that Sammy Watkins has all the talent in the world and there isn’t a lot of competition for targets on his new team. The Bills best WR, Stevie Johnson, now plays for San Francisco and newly acquired Mike Williams won’t allow defenses to focus solely on Watkins. Watkins faces two tough challenges. First, the QB situation in Buffalo isn’t great. EJ Manuel is a great talent, but he does have a history of injury and when the backup comes in Watkins’ value will be affected. It doesn’t help that the...

Top Five Rookie Quarterbacks to Watch in 2014

The 2014 NFL Draft is in the books and we know where the top rookie quarterbacks landed. But before we start, I have a confession. I never draft rookie quarterbacks. Sure, I missed out on Andrew Luck and RGII and Cam Newtown, but I know myself. I need a consistent quarterback. I will spring a little early for my Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, etc. I need one position on lockdown, one slot on my roster that I don’t have to over think. But I’m not everyone. Some of you like to live on the edge so here are the best bets and why: Johnny Manziel (Cleveland Browns) - Don’t overthink it. Love him or hate him, this guy has all the makings of a special running and scoring quarterback. In fantasy football, that’s fantastic. Brian Hoyer showed some realy moxy last year, but quarterbacks have a tough time bouncing back from ACL surgery (examples: Carson Palmer, Tom Brady, RGIII, etc.) so this is Johnny’s job to lose. Last year at Texas A&M Manziel passed for 4,114 yards and 37 touchdowns. But you know what makes him worth drafting to your fantasy team? He also rushed for 759 yards and for an additional nine touchdowns which helps make up for the probable loss of receiving phenomenon, Josh Gordon. He did all of that in 13 games. Well, technically he did it in 12 1/2 due to that pesky suspension, but you don’t need to worry about that. He’ll keep his nose clean his first year. Right?   Derek Carr (Oakland Raiders) - I’ll admit it; I have a...

NFL Draft – One week later: A reflection

One week after the fantastic NFL Draft, we thought we would take a moment to reflect on the things we will remember most before we start assessing the roles each rookie can play on your fantasy team. Courtney kissed Roger Goodell - Yes, that really happened. She asked if she could kiss him, he pointed to his cheek, and she did. It was… magic. Interviewing ESPN’s Injury Analyst Goddess, Stephania Bell - She is so lovely in person (and tiny). We had a ball chatting football with a fellow sports loving gal. Check it out HERE and wish her a “Get Well Soon” because she was still on crutches! Hanging out with AMAZING people - We got to spend quality time with the always entertaining (and almost always right) Adam Rank from the NFL Network. We also bumped into George Whitfield Jr. of ESPN and Quarterback Coaching fame. His company, Whitfield Athletix, helped groom Johnny Manziel so it was a huge weekend for him. I got to meet up and have great face time with the one and only Pro Football Guru, Russell Baxter and one of the only women in the country with her own prime time sports radio show, Julie Buehler of Buehler’s Day Off. We hope to continue our friendships with these very nice, knowledgeable people. Look for interviews with these experts soon. Johnny Manziel - No one will ever talk about the 2014 NFL Draft without bringing up the name Johnny Manziel. However, we had a first row seat to the draft day mania and I can tell you one thing… people hate Johnny Manziel. I know a lot...

2014 NFL Draft Interview with Stephania Bell- 5.8.14

The fabulous Stephania Bell, ESPN’s injury Analyst Godess, was kind enough to chat with us for a few minutes at the 2014 NFL Draft. She answers some important questions (and not so pressing questions about Harbaugh’s pleated pants) that will be helpful for you to keep in mind when drafting next year. She is awesome and so fun! Enjoy!    ...
