Week 9 Waiver Wire Adds: Wide Receivers Edition

We partnered with RotoBaller to give you accurate and timely Week 9 waiver wire adds, wide receivers and more. In turn, they post our podcast to their site (which is centered around setting your weekly lineups). Enjoy! This article originally appeared on RotoBaller, our new partner. A wild Week 8 in the NFL saw some of the most explosive performances of the 2014 season, particularly at the wide receiver position. However, if you are not one of the fortunate owners of Antonio Brown, Emmanuel Sanders, or Jeremy Maclin, then you may need some help off the waiver wire. Below I will take a look at some Week 9 wide receiver waiver wire pickups and sleepers, based on their current ownership numbers and fantasy outlooks. Each week of the fantasy football season, I’ll also give you a bonus player to avoid (usually someone who might be a popular pickup that I disagree with).   Fantasy Football Wide Receivers (WR) Brandon LaFell (NE) – Owned in 40% of Fleaflicker leagues The Patriots haven’t had a legitimate sideline threat since Randy Moss, and while I’m not saying LaFell is even in the same ballpark as “The Freak”, he has been incredibly valuable in Tom Brady’s rejuvenated aerial attack. LaFell pulled in all 11 of his targets for 124 yards and a TD in the Week 8 drubbing of Chicago, and while I don’t think there will be that much volume on a weekly basis, I think he is seriously challenging Julian Edelman for the role of second banana to Gronk. LaFell has put up three 20+ point PPR performances in his last five...

Week 8 – Indianapolis Colts Fantasy Forecast

Indianapolis Colts 5-2 at Pittsburgh Steelers 4-3   Week 8 – Indianapolis Colts Fantasy Forecast   Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em   Andrew Luck – 3rd Ranked QB Luck had another solid performance in Week 7. It was his 6th game with over 300 yards passing. Luck is a Must Start every week.   Ahmad Bradshaw – 19th Ranked RB This could be a huge week for Bradshaw. Richardson went down last week’s shutout against the Bengals and is listed as Questionable for Week 8. He will be used even more on the ground. He did fumble last week but came right back in and did his job. Pittsburgh isn’t the best stopping the run.   T.Y. Hilton – 7th Ranked WR Hilton had his third game of the season with over 100 yards. He is really starting to get into his groove and Luck is trying to get him the ball.   Dwayne Allen – 6th Ranked TE Dwayne had his 5th touchdown of the season last week and added 52 yards. This is a great matchup for Allen. Pittsburgh gives up the 9th most fantasy points to Tight Ends. Really enjoy him on my roster. He is only owned in 32% of leagues and he is the 7th highest fantasy scoring Tight End. Pick him up for gods sake and play him.   Gut Calls   Trent Richardson – 28th Ranked RB As I said, Richardson went out with a groin injury last week and has yet to practice. If he misses this game it will be his first since 2012. If he plays I don’t see him getting a lot of work. Not...

Week 8 – Pittsburgh Steelers Fantasy Forecast

Indianapolis Colts (5-2) at Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3)   Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em Antonio Brown – #3 Ranked WR Antonio Brown is the man and by now you should know that you always, and I mean always play him. He is the kind of guy in which you don’t bother looking at match-ups. He has yet to have a game with less than 84 yards and his lowest scoring game still garnered you 8 points. He’s the man. Pure and simple…he’s the man.     Le’Veon Bell– #5 Ranked RB Bell is averaging 14 points per game and is the 4th highest scoring RB in the league right now. He has only gotten you single digit points once, and that was in week 2. He is consistent and is a threat in both the air and on the ground. This is his most endearing quality because it means that if you are up against a stout line, you don’t have to panic…he will still get you your usual points.     Gut Calls Lance Moore – Not Ranked WR If you have been playing fantasy football for a while then you know that Lance Moore can be a very frustrating player as he is hot and cold. Well he was hot and cold with the Saints and he hasn’t seen much action with the Steelers either. Last week he had his most catches, 2, but he has scored touchdowns in the last 2 games. Big Ben has been looking his way in the end zone as of recently and defenses know they need to double team Brown, leaving...

Week 7 – Indianapolis Colts Fantasy Forecast

Cincinnati Bengals 3-1-1 at Indianapolis Colts 4-2   Week 7 – Indianapolis Colts Fantasy Forecast     Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em   Andrew Luck – 1st Ranked QB It doesn’t matter what the matchup is, you are starting Luck every week.   T.Y. Hilton – 16th Ranked WR 9 targets, 9 receptions, 223 yards and a touchdown. He would have had two touchdowns but the defender barely touched him. Record game. Do not expect those numbers this week against the Bengals that give up the 6th fewest fantasy points to Wide Receivers. 110 yards or 65 and a touchdown sounds about right for Hilton.   Reggie Wayne – 15th Ranked WR Wayne could really benefit from Hilton having a huge game last week. The defenders will be focused on him and Bradshaw and Wayne can make his move.   Ahmad Bradshaw – 18th Ranked RB Bradshaw can do it all. If you look at his rushing yards alone then you would bench him. It is his receiving that makes him a Must Start against an ok Bengals rush defense. He had another week in double-digits even with sharing the ball with Richardson.   Dwayne Allen – 7th Ranked TE and Coby Fleener – 13th Ranked TE Cincinnati Bengals give up the most points to Tight Ends and there are two of them. This is good for both of them. They both have had good games and they can both have a good game in the same game.   Adam Vinatieri – 7th Ranked K   Gut Calls   Trent Richardson – 28th Ranked RB Richardson had a touchdown! Yay!! He is a flex player...
