Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Andre Brown

#9 Ranked RB

San Diego is so-so against the run and Andre Brown is special. He’s been one of the most consistent RBs in the league since returning from injury. Last week he rushed 14 times for 35 yards and two TDs and caught three passes for 23 yards.

Brandon Myers

#7 Ranked TE

We like TEs with back-to-back games with TDs. It’s hard out there for fantasy owners. TEs are incredibly inconsistent this year, so you may want to play him.

Gut Calls

Victor Cruz

#18 Ranked WR

This ranking is too high based on his production thus far this season. However, the Chargers do give up the 4th most fantasy points to opposing WRs so we’re giving him yet another chance. Eli Manning and this offense continue to be the very definition of anemic. Sadly, if you drafted Cruz, and kept playing him (like me) you probably didn’t make the playoffs. Good luck in the consolation round.

Bench Warmers

New York Giants Defense

#23 Ranked DEF

If you listen to our show, you hopefully played this squad the last five weeks. But it’s time to jump off that gravy train. San Diego gives up the 8th fewest fantasy points to opposing DEFs, JPP is hurt and the team is losing steam.

New York GiantsESPN’s Ed Werder reported today that Victor Cruz and the NY Giants are at a standstill.  No one’s budging.

Only a week and a half ago NY Giants’ team chairman, Steve Tisch,  told USA Today, “We’re talking.  I’m personally confident that Victor wants to be a Giant, will be a Giant.”  Even though Victor Cruz has the skill set to thrive outside, he’s absolutely fabulous in the slot.  And, unfortunately for him, the guys who play inside traditionally don’t make the big money like the outside guys.  Cruz believes his skills are worth top dollar, and from a fantasy perspective he’s right.

But let’s not forget the other part of this WR tandem, Hakeem Nicks.  He still hasn’t shown up for the NY Giants’ OTAs either.  Reports have gone back and forth about whether or not his absence is a contract protest.  Some reports say he’s not happy going into the final year of his rookie deal and other reports claim he’s perfectly content waiting for a new deal, hoping that this year won’t be plagued with injuries like the last and he’ll be able to ask for more money.  Some even claim his “patience” is an effort to be the anti-Cruz.

Hakeem Nicks is the anti-Cruz, if by that you mean that Cruz had a rockin’ year last year proving he’s not a one hit wonder and Nick got hurt and needs to prove he’s rehabbed and can be the big-time contributor he was in the past.

Either way, the NY Giants need to figure it out because as we speak Rueben Randle is taking the first team snaps… as the main guy.  And no offense to Randle, but our fantasy teams are in need of a Cruz/Nicks return.

In the mean time, TE Brandon Myers (a recent acquisition from the Oakland Raiders) should be on everyone’s radar.  He’s getting a lot more reps with Eli Manning since the two star wideouts haven’t shown up.  The TE position always lacks in the way of quality fantasy options, but I think Brandon Meyers should be considered by those who miss the opportunity to draft the top 4 TEs.
