Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd

#13 and # 21 Ranked WR

Both of these receivers helped propel their fantasy owners into the playoffs with some great play over the last few weeks and this week is no different.  However, both of these receivers will get downgraded to Gut Calls for the next two weeks when they go up against Tennessee and Seattle.  Enjoy them while you can.

Gut Calls

Rashard Mendenhall

#20 Ranked RB

Mendenhall is totally “the backup plan.” You know what we mean. However, it does bear noting that St Louis gives up the 5th most fantasy points to opposing RBs and Coach Bruce Arians made it clear that a) he likes Mendenhall and b) he will not rush Ellington back and risk worsening his knee injury. If Ellington is out, Mendenhall is worth a look. If Ellington is back, stay away from this time-share.

Bench Warmers

Rob Housler

#24 Ranked TE

Housler averages just over 4 catches and 49 yards per game, but St Louis is pretty great against opposing TEs. Keep him on your bench unless you are super desperate and playing in a PPR format.

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Larry Fitzgerald

#10 Ranked WR

Philadelphia gives up the most fantasy points to opposing WRs and Larry isn’t just any WR. He’s a stud muffin. Last week against the Colts he caught five passes for 52 yards and two TDs. Fantasy owners will be thankful for his Sunday performance.

Michael Floyd

#21 Ranked WR

And because Philadelphia is so bad against the pass, Floyd is also a “Must Start.” Floyd emerged as a true WR2 to compliment Fitzgerald and you should get in on that fantasy point action. Last week he caught seven passes for 104 yards. That was his second game with over 100 receiving yards. Go with the trend.

Gut Calls

Carson Palmer

#10 Ranked QB

You read that right; Carson Palmer is ranked #10 for Week 13. Over the last two games Palmer threw for over 300 yards and for two TDs in each. Do you still trust RGIII, Brady, Luck? Are you nervous about Fitzgerald? If so, Palmer is for you this week.

Andre Ellington and Rashard Mendenhall

#27 Ranked RB and #29 Ranked RB

We don’t suggest jumping on this RB carousel, but we realize you may not have a choice and there is upside. If Arizona gets hot, one of these guys has the potential to go off. We can’t tell you who, but it could happen. If you get motion sickness, this ride is not for you.

Jay Feely

#12 Ranked K

If a kicker scores 19 fantasy points the week prior, they get a shout out. Here’s your shout out, Feely. You won the day for many, and rubbed salt in the wound to the others. Since Week 7, he scored 9+ fantasy points in each game and he’s only owned in 7% of leagues. Get points where you can.  Pay attention to your kicker.

Arizona Defense

#12 Ranked DEF

We love the Arizona Defense, but we also know Philadelphia scores a lot of points. You should probably play them and cross your fingers hoping for turnovers, but know that this is a tall order.

Bench Warmers

Rob Housler

#25 Ranked TE

Although we don’t suggest starting Housler just yet, he might be a good bench stash. Since Week 6, he caught four or more passes in every game but one. He’s developing a nice relationship with Palmer and as the Cardinals make a push for the playoffs, they will attempt to use every weapon to the fullest.

So true, so true.

A disappointed Bruce Arians started his press conference with admitting to disgust.  He said, “We talk about being a smart football team, and that’s probably the dumbest first thirty minutes of football I’ve ever seen.”

Bold.

But he did go on to say that they can improve the way they play, however they can’t improve the injuries.  The Arizona Cardinals have remained pretty healthy through the off and preseason, until last night.

First round pick and starting LG Jonathan Cooper suffered a fractured left fibula.  His ability to play at all this season is up in the air.  He may not be a player that you can draft in your fantasy leagues, but the Cardinals have struggled to find consistent or even just passable play by their offensive line, so Cooper’s injury could affect each and every offensive player on the team.

RB Rashard Mendenhall left the game due to looseness in his right knee.  He will get an MRI to asses the damage, but he was walking around the side line and that is a good sign.  Mendenhall looked pretty great up until his injury, which was one of the few glimmers of hope last night.

WR Andre Roberts caught two passes for 42 yards as the primary slot receiver on Saturday night, but left the game due to a quadriceps issue.

And TE Rob Housler caught one pass for 9 yards (and dropped a pass in the end zone) before leaving the game with a right ankle injury.  He will be further evaluated early next week.

‘We’re not gonna get 53 new guys and start over’Coach Bruce Arians was visibly upset with his first loss as a head coach in the third week of the preseason to the San Diego Chargers.
