Carolina Panthers 5-3 at San Francisco 49ers 6-2
Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em
Cam Newton
#6 Ranked QB
One TD passing. One TD rushing. The usual. He did throw 2 INTs, so there’s room for improvement. But let’s be serious, he’s a fantasy must start, especially while the Panthers are hot.
Carolina Defense
#5 Ranked DEF
Hopefully you started them last week, because if you did, the Carolina defense rewarded you with 19 fantasy points. San Francisco has given up only the 6th most fantasy points to defenses, but we see this squad as an exception. Team beast mode.
Gut Calls
Mike Tolbert
#30 Ranked RB
Why is Tolbert in the gut calls while Stewart and Williams are on the bench? The simple answer is that Tolbert is the goal line back. That’s true no matter which of the other backs get the most work. Last week, Stewart and Williams split carries and both confirmed their inability to produce fantasy numbers. But, as usual, Tolbert got a TD. That makes him a decent Flex option. Good news: he’s only owned in 37% of leagues. If you’re in a pinch, he might be your guy.
Bench Warmers
DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart
#33 Ranked RB and #42 Ranked RB
Yep, it is an official time share. And you want nothing to do with it. Last week, Stewart rushed for 43 yards and acquired 22 yards receiving. And Williams rushed for 42 yards with 12 yards receiving. Basically, this forces both players onto the “do not play” list. Williams, it was great while it lasted, but now there’s someone else, and we need to break up.
