Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Harry Douglas

#19 Ranked WR

Matt Ryan is struggling and the whole team is struggling, but at least Harry Douglas still gets you some points week in and week out. Douglas scored the 5th most points out of all the WRs last week and you can expect another decent week out of Douglas. He will be up against a team that has allowed the 9th fewest points to WRs but, with Roddy White back, that should open Douglas up a bit more.

Gut Calls

Roddy White

#30 Ranked WR

Not a bad little week for Roddy scoring 7 points. Granted, most of that came from the 1 TD he had, but Ryan is comfortable with Roddy so if he is only going to get red zone targets, that is fine with us. You probably have better options but, if not, Roddy might be worth taking a look at.

Tony Gonzalez

#11 Ranked TE

Well, naturally when Gonzalez has a decent week and you are starting to feel a little better about playing him, his status on whether or not he will play is called into question. He didn’t practice on Tuesday and it is a short week with a game on Thursday. It could mean that he is more injured than we have been lead to believe or it could simply be the Falcons are just resting a slightly beat up vet. Check whether or not he is active before you play him and start thinking now about a replacement.

Bench Warmers

Matt Ryan

#19 Ranked QB

It is getting painful to watch. Poor Matty Ice. He scored the 16th most points out of all the QBs last week and it isn’t going to get much better this week when he is going up against the Saints who have given up the 3rd fewest points to QBs. Ryan hasn’t scored more than 14 points in the last 4 weeks and only 1 team has scored more than 20 points against the Saints. Matt Ryan isn’t going to be the guy to break that streak.

Antone Smith

#60 Ranked RB

Yes, this guy had a big week last week, but that doesn’t mean that you should abandon your other starting RBs for this potential 1-week wonder. He had 88 rushing yards and a TD on 2 carries, but he still had less carries than both Steven Jackson and Jacquizz Rodgers who are ahead of him on the depth chart. He might see more carries this week but it is too risky of a play.

Steven Jackson and Jacquizz Rodgers

#29 Ranked RB and #37 Ranked RB

Neither of these guys have been consistent the last few weeks and with the fact that Antone Smith was the most productive back on only 2 carries, that just puts the value of both of these guys into even more question.
