Gut Calls
Vernon Davis
#6 Ranked TE
Davis continues to produce on a weekly basis. The return of Crabtree and Manningham opened the field and helped Davis. The Seahawks will try to take away Kaepernick’s best option so he’s risky this week (they have given up the 12th fewest points to opposing TEs). That being said, Vernon is a top-5 TE option every week.
Frank Gore
#34 Ranked RB
This is a tough matchup with the Seahawks giving up the 7th fewest fantasy points to opposing RBs. Gore always made his money on or near the goal line and the Niners have been running play action to Davis in those situations recently. In the last three games Gore only scored a combined 16 fantasy points, but it would be hard to bench a stud in the fantasy playoffs.
Anquan Boldin
#40 Ranked WR
Boldin was productive last week against the Rams catching nine passes for 98 yards. Defenses will continue to key in on Davis and Boldin until Crabtree and Manningham prove they demand coverage, but the field is starting to open up more for Boldin. Play the recently consistent Boldin with caution this week.
Bench Warmers
Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham
#47 and Not Ranked WRs
Don’t be fooled by Crabtree’s 7.6 fantasy points last week. The majority of those points came through one 60-yard play. It came at the end of a broken play and Crabtree looked like an old man running down the sideline. Manningham and Crabtree are reduced to decoy status once again, but be patient, they will be useful for you soon.
Colin Kaepernick
#20 Ranked QB
Kaepernick had another solid performance against a talented Rams defense last week, but the Seahawks are at a totally different animal. He still looks shaky in the pocket and the Seahawks will try to rattle him and force turnovers. Be patient. Tampa Bay is only one week away for your playoffs.
