Chicago Bears Hired Martial Arts Expert, Grand Master Joesph E. Kim, as a Skill Development Coach

This probably means that the Bears cut the budget for a ballroom dancing coach for Cutler, but we all can’t win.

Jeff Dickerson, ESPN Chicago Bears Beat Reporter, reported that the Chicago Bears hired martial arts expert, Grand Master Joseph E. Kim, as a skill development coach. Kim first worked with the Bears GM, Phil Emery, in Kansas City when Emery was the director of college scouting from 2009 to 2011.

Frankly, this sounds totally bad ass. More than that, it seems to have worked in the past. Kim was a pass-rush consultant for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2010-2012. And although the team went 2-14 in that final season (and there were some serious problems on all levels of the organization), they also sent six players to the Pro Bowl (four of which where on the defensive side of the ball), the 5th most out of all the teams in the league.

Even more interesting, according to Joseph E. Kim’s website his first job in the NFL came in 1992 when he was hired to “develop players fighting skills” by none other than Bill Belichick when Coach B was with the Cleveland Browns. That will give you some cred!

Last year the Bears had 10 less sacks than they forced in 2012. Also, their turnover ratio went from +20 to +5 so we’ll take any improvements we can get. We would love if the Bears Defense could become a fantasy football juggernaut again. It’s not crazy if it works.
