Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Fantasy Forecast – Week 13

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Vincent Jackson

#11 Ranked WR

Carolina gives up the 3rd fewest fantasy points to opposing WRs, so even though Jackson is a “Must Start” due his large role in the offense, you should probably temper your expectations. The last time these two teams met up, Jackson caught five passes for 79 yards. Look for similar results.

Gut Calls

Bobby Rainey

#23 Ranked RB

Coach Schiano stepped up in defense of Rainey’s ho-hum performance last week and blamed the poor run-blocking. Hopefully everyone can step up because Carolina gives up the 5th fewest fantasy points to opposing RBs. Eek! But Rainey get so many carries he’s hard to bench.

Bench Warmers

Mike Glennon

#24 Ranked QB

Six of the eight games that Glennon started in the NFL yielded 15+ fantasy points. Awesome. And the last time that Glennon played Carolina he threw for 275 yards and one TD. However, Caroline give up the fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs, so we’re nervous. We’ll let him sit this one out.

Tiquan Underwood

#49 Ranked WR

Tiquan Underwood caught three passes for 108 yards and two TDs last week at Detroit. Congrats to him! In the last six week’s he’s had at least one catch and his role in the offense continues to grow. This is not a good match-up, so don’t play him. You could put him on your bench just in case last week wasn’t a fluke. And… let’s be real. He has the best hair in the league, bar none.

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Bobby Rainey

#23 Ranked RB

Hopefully you got this guy last week, or put in to the waiver wire this week.  Seriously, he looked great last week against Atlanta.  And sure, Atlanta’s defense is soft (to say the least) but… seriously.  Rainey carried the ball 30 times for 163 yards and 2 TDs.  And because the getting was good, he also caught 2 passes for 4 yards and 1 TD.  Really?  That’s crazy.  You can’t expect that every game for the rest of the season, but he’s the man.  And frankly, at least one of the amazing RBs on the Buccaneers has to stay healthy, right?  Right?!?!

Vincent Jackson

#3 Ranked WR

Detroit gives up the 2nd most fantasy points to opposing WRs.  That makes Jackson a juicy choice all on it’s own, but add in the fact that he looked like a super star against Atlanta last week, catching 10 passes for 165 yards and 1 TD, and he’s the definition of “must start.”

Gut Calls

Mike Glennon

#12 Ranked QB

The Bucs like to lean on their run game, but Mike Glennon continues to impress.  Last week he passed for 231 yards and 2 TDs.  Not too shabby.  Detroit is middle-of-the-pack when it comes to defending QBs, but if you’re in a pinch, he might be a sneaky play.  Has Tampa Bay found their new QB?  We’re into him.

Bench Warmers

Tim Wright

#18 Ranked TE

Well, that was fun while it lasted.  Last week was another big bummer.  Wright caught one pass for 13 yards against the weak Atlanta defense.  This week he goes up against Detroit, and they give up the 8th fewest fantasy points to opposing TEs. You don’t want to be part of that.  The odds are not in his favor.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Fantasy Forecast – Week 11

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

No one is a must start.  The inconsistencies serve as an explanation as to how this team could contain so much talent and yet only win one game.  Ugh.

Gut Calls

Vincent Jackson

#7 Ranked WR

He’s a must start, probably, but with less than 30 points receiving last week, we’re ticked off.  The Falcons give up the 6th most points to opposing WRs, so if he’s terrible this week, we’ll have to have a little talk.

Brian Leonard and Bobby Rainey

#31 and #35 Ranked RB

Coach Schiano already called their RB situation a “time share.”  That’s not cool.  However, you might be in a bind.  Bare minimum, with Mike James out for the season with a broken ankle, they will use these guys.  You might want to pick one of them up as a lottery ticket and hope for production.  This week would be a little dicey, but there’s a chance one of them breaks out against the weak Atlanta defense.  Brian Leonard is known as a receiving back and could prove a productive addition in PPR leagues.  Rainey is more of the wild card, and could be a nice every-down back.  Rainey was listed among “deep sleepers” in the preseason when he was with the Brown, so we’ll see if he takes advantage of this opportunity.

Bench Warmers

Mike Glennon

#18 Ranked QB

It was hard deciding whether Glennon should be a Gut Call or a Bench Warmer this week.  His performance last week was less than stellar.  Against the “problem children” (otherwise known as the Miami Dolphins), Glennon threw for 139 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT.  It was Glennon’s worst performance.  This week he goes up against Atlanta, who gives up the 5th most fantasy points to QBs.  Unfortunately, Tampa Bay can’t keep a RB healthy, and that puts a lot of pressure on the QB.  He could blow up, but he could also have a rookie moment.  You don’t want to start him if he experiences the latter.
