NFL and NFLPA Look to Move Draft to May in 2014

After two years of rumors and negotiations, it seems the NFL will indeed move the NFL Draft to May in 2014, also moving the start of free agency to March. Adam Schefter took to Twitter today to publicize the change.

@AdamSchefter: NFL and NFLPA are on verge of pushing back draft to May and moving up start of league year to before combine, per sources.

He was even more specific about the dates later in the day:

@AdamSchefter: Looks like 2014 NFL draft will be held May 15-17. In 2015 and 2016, league year would start early March, combine mid-March.

Last month NFL Commissioner Roger Godell joked around on “The Rich Eisen Podcast” about how the placement of Easter and the Spring Rockettes show was going to present a conflict at Radio Music Hall, and that the coordinators of the NFL Draft would be prepared.

Bunny jokes aside, I feel this could be a great move. I feel like giving the veteran players more time to adjust to a new team could prove quite the benefit. As fantasy owners, we will have more time to consider the roster and the team chemistry. Time will tell.

It’s Not Our Fault

The NFL schedule being announced marks two things for the year:

1. The season is getting closer and is the official halfway point in the off-season, meaning we have a reason to get excited again.

2. We immediately start blaming the reason our teams are doing so poorly on the strength of our schedule. Doesn’t matter if that is true or not, doesn’t matter if we have even stepped foot on the field…it is still always said.

With that said, the team that has the hardest schedule this year is……drum roll…..The Carolina Panthers!

Does it mean anything, probably not, but what a great excuse:)

2013 schedule

Just a few more hours before the 2013 NFL schedule will be released. I wonder who will have the hardest schedule this year. I hope the patriots:-) You always want to keep in mind who your players are playing. It will affect their potential fantasy points. New York Giants had the hardest schedule last year, Denver came in second. My real guess is Houston. I will update you soon.
