Seattle Seahawks 12-4

Welcome to the NFC West Week and the Seattle Seahawks 2014 Fantasy Highs and Lows. Each week we will go division by division breaking down each team.

Seattle had three fantasy relevant players: Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and “Defense.” Everyone else was frustrating and unpredictable. That’s pretty much the whole story, but we’ll go into some of the details knowing that much will change with the recent arrival of Tight End superstar, Jimmy Graham.

Highs:

Russell Wilson

Wilson was the third highest scoring fantasy Quarterback on the season behind Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck. Those skeptical about his future will say, “But he didn’t throw the ball!” True, but he acquired 849 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. If he were a Running Back, he would tie with C.J. Anderson with the 16th highest yards on the season and would tie with a handful of guys (including my favorite player, Matt Forte) for 17th in rushing touchdowns. Don’t look for him to repeat that if they sign him to a cushy contract. Up until now Wilson has had the uncanny ability to not get hit, but when your team hinges on your highly paid, very talented Quarterback, things change.

Marshawn Lynch

Lynch finished the season with the fourth most rushing yards (1,306) among all Running Backs in the league. And at 13, he tied with DeMarco Murray for the most rushing touchdowns. He also caught 37 passes for 367 yards and four touchdowns. As long as he plays you want him on your fantasy team.

And for a fun bonus, we wanted to make sure that you saw this amazing Marshawn Lynch appearance alongside another Her Fantasy Football favorite, Rob Gronkowski:

Seattle Seahawks Defense

The defense started off slow, but surely they came around and helped fantasy teams all over win their championship. Starting in Week 8, they forced 11 interceptions, 30 sacks and recovered eight fumbles.

Lows:

Everyone else on the team

In standard scoring, Russell Wilson scored 327 fatnasy points and Marshawn Lynch scored 265 points. Next up? Doug Baldwin with 101 points. That is a nosedive. The Seahawks just couldn’t get anything consistent going in the air. They have a great defense, a rushing quarterback, a reliable kicker (most of the time) and a Beastmode. Looking elsewhere for fantasy value was futile.
