This week, we made some gut calls on Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush, and Matthew Stafford.

Gut Calls

Matthew Stafford
#8 Ranked QB
Stafford had 262 yards and a TD without his boyfriend Megatron. Most of his fantasy points came at the end of the game. A lot of Stafford’s passes were dropped and he was sacked 5 times. Tough game to watch for Stafford owners but he still got you 14.38 points. Cincinnati has given up the 5th fewest points to QBs. If Megatron is out, Stafford might need to be out of your line-up too.

This week, we made some gut calls on Denarius Moore, Rod Streater, Terrelle Pryor, Rashad Jennings, and Marcel Reece.

Gut Calls

Denarius Moore
#36 Ranked WR
Moore is only owned in 64 percent of leagues and we think he’s a good pick-up. Not only is he the clear No. 1 WR, but after his game against Kansas City, he plays Pittsburgh. Pick him up. Moore had 84 yards and a TD last week. We think he will get similar yards this week but the Chiefs may not let him get in the endzone. We would feel okay about putting him in as your WR3.

This week, we made some gut calls on Justin Blackmon, Cecil Shorts, MJD, and Chad Henne.

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Justin Blackmon
#20 Ranked WR
We said it last week, when a player comes off suspension this year you play them. Blackmon’s first catch was for a 67 yard TD. “First touch, touchdown,” Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts said. “I’m like ‘Come on, man.’” He’s back and ready to help the Jaguars not be the embarrassment of the NFL. The Broncos give up a lot of points to opponents and we see some late game garbage points going to Blackmon.

This week, we made some gut calls on Peyton Manning, Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Julius Thomas, Matt Prater and Knowshon Moreno.

Gut Calls

Knowshon Moreno
#9 Ranked RB
Knowshon had 93 yards rushing with a TD and 57 yards receiving last week against Dallas. He is the clear #1 RB for Denver. Jacksonville has given up the 10th most fantasy points to RBs. We are putting Knowshon in Gut Calls simply because when the Broncos get ahead they take Moreno out of the game and rely on Hillman and Ball to help run out the clock.

This week, we made some gut calls on Ray Rice, Torrey Smith, Joe Flacco, Dallas Clark and Justin Tucker.

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Ray Rice
#12 Ranked RB
With Clay Matthews out, this is really going to open up the field for the Ravens. Rice had 74 yards rushing with 2 TDs and 28 yards receiving last week against Miami. Green Bay is ok against the rush thus far, but with injured WRs and basically no TE, Rice will see a lot of touches this week. Ravens win when they give the ball to Rice.

This week, we made some gut calls on Fred Jackson, C.J. Spiller, Scott Chandler, Stevie Johnson, and EJ Manuel.

EJ Manuel
We ranked Thaddeus Lewis
No reports yet from the coaching staff, but it is rumored that he Manuel out for six weeks with an ankle sprain. The Bills signed QB Thaddeus Lewis on Monday and announced he will start Week 6. Lewis played one game last year with Cleveland and was just okay. Expect the RBs to get the ball a lot this week. With Freeman going to Minnesota, maybe Matt Cassel will head to Buffalo. Vintage Cassel jerseys need to come out of the closet.

Both teams are struggling this season and trying to put together winning seasons.  Someone has to win, but you also need to win your fantasy match-up!

This week, we made some gut calls on Zac Stacy, Jared Cook and the wide receivers.

One of the gut calls:

Gut Calls

Zac Stacy

#31 Ranked RB

Most fantasy sites are telling you to pick up this guy. Sure. You can do that. Coach Jeff Fisher confirmed that Stacy would remain the starter in Week 6. For Stacy to become a fantasy starter he must play a larger role in this offense. Last week, as the “starter” he rushed for 78 yards. No TD. Stacy did leave the game due to a rib injury, but supposedly it’s not serious. If you’ve been decimated by injuries, Stacy is worth a flyer. Under normal circumstances, you stash him on your bench and cross your fingers.

New York Giants – Fantasy Foreplay – Analysis Featured on Cover32.com

Cover32LogoNew York Giants at Chicago Bears

We know the faithful New York Giants fans want a comeback.  They wait patiently for that late season spark that seems to get their team into the Super Bowl.  But we have a feeling this is not that “bounce back” game everyone wants.  Sorry.  And that could translate into a tough day for fantasy owners as well.

This week, we made some gut calls on Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks and Eli Manning.

One of our gut calls:

Gut Calls

Hakeem Nicks

#30 Ranked WR

Last week Hakeem Nicks jumped back on the radar with 142 yards receiving. Unfortunately, Nicks has yet to catch a TD and the Giants seem to get worse each week. Chicago allows the 17th most points to WRs. If you think they will blanket Cruz, leaving Nicks open and if you think those passes won’t be intercepted, then play him. If you can’t trust the Giants, maybe you should try to trade him.  This might be the height of his value.

New York Giants at Chicago Bears

Our tagline for this game: “There will be blood.”  This game could get ugly, fast.  But we have our money on this also being a fantasy gold mine for the Bears players and your fantasy team.

This week, we made some gut calls on Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall, the Chicago Defense, Alshon Jeffery, Jay Cutler and even Robbie Gould.

One of our calls:

Play ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

Brandon Marshall

#3 Ranked WR

Giants give up the 9th most fantasy points to WRs.  Brandon Marshall had a tough game last week with only 30 yards receiving. Luckily for fantasy owners, he did also get a TD. Jay Cutler isn’t going to let him feel bad for two weeks in a row. Look for Marshall to pick apart a Giants secondary that MUST also defend the emerging Alshon Jeffery. We smell a bounce back.
